Riparian

House

Unique Local Experience

Experience a piece of history. Constructed around 1835, the canal house was built by and for Irish immigrants who were hired to construct parts of the Wabash and Erie Canal. Renamed the Riparian House, the property is one of six remaining canal houses in Lagro, Indiana and the only house maintaining its original structure.

After purchasing the neglected canal house, owners weren't sure if they were even going to be able to preserve that kind of history due to the amount of damage, but it was a challenge they were willing to try.
